Congratulations! You have been admitted to a specific school at Rutgers University. You may enroll at any Rutgers school to which you have been admitted. Respond to your offer of admission and continue to track your enrollment through your Rutgers Application Portal.
-
Your admission has been rescinded because you did not fulfill the conditions of your enrollment.
-
We require additional time to review your application in the broader context of our applicant pool, so we have deferred your application to Regular Decision. This additional time ensures that we provide you with the greatest opportunity for Rutgers consideration. We ask you to update your Self-reported Transcript and Academic Record System (STARS) Record with your current senior grades within one week of receiving this decision if you are currently enrolled in high school. Your Rutgers Application Portal will be updated as soon as we have completed our review. You will receive admission notification no later than the end of February.
-
We are unable to admit you to this Rutgers school for the coming semester. The competition for admission depends on the number and quality of academic courses applicants have completed, the number of applications we receive for each school or program, and the number of spaces available.
The Admissions Profile of the most recently admitted class provides SAT, ACT, and GPA ranges of high school students regularly admitted to Rutgers for the fall semester.
Transfer students whose grade-point averages appear competitive might not be admitted because they have not completed the required courses for their school(s) of application; for example, most Rutgers schools require a foundation in mathematics, English, science, and a foreign language. Other transfer applicants may not be admitted because their most recent coursework is not academically competitive, or their grade-point average is not competitive. As with first-year students, the Admissions Profile provides context for our decisions.
If you wish to attend Rutgers in the future, we recommend taking additional college courses to complete any required courses you may be missing or to improve your overall academic profile and grade-point average. Once additional coursework is completed, you may again apply to Rutgers. New Jersey’s community colleges offer a Recommended Transfer Program (RTP) described at NJ Transfer. By using NJ Transfer, students can determine course requirements for the first two years of each Rutgers major and choose classes accordingly.
Information about how we make decisions for each of the Rutgers–Camden, Rutgers–Newark, and Rutgers–New Brunswick schools can also provide context.

You are currently on our wait list for this school. Your application, while strong, is not as competitive as those of students we can admit at this time. If we find, after the candidate’s reply date (May 1 for the fall semester), that we have space for additional students, we will review all students on the wait list and select from among them. Please tell us if you are interested in remaining on our wait list for future consideration by clicking on the Wait List Response link on the Application Status page of your Rutgers Application Portal.
Current high school seniors should submit their midyear senior-year grades through the Self-reported Transcript and Academic Record System (STARS). Transfer students should send us an updated transcript with their current semester grades as soon as the current semester is complete and all grades are available. We will use that documentation to assess the student's status on the wait list.
By submitting updated academic information, you will ensure that we have your most current academic records, should further review become necessary. If we are unable to admit you from the wait list, we will notify you prior to the semester for which you applied. In recent years, we have admitted some students from our wait lists. We cannot guarantee admission from the wait list. If you have been offered admission to another school within Rutgers, you should accept that offer while you remain on the wait list in order to guarantee your seat in our incoming class.
Students placed on the wait list will receive a final decision by August 1.
